Empowering Tanzanian Students | Transforming Community Secondary SchoolsTommorow
Community Secondary Education Support (COSES) is a Tanzanian non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of secondary education in underserved communities across Tanzania.
Founded and led by secondary school educators who experience classroom realities firsthand, COSES bridges the critical gap between resource shortages and quality education. We work side-by-side with students, teachers, local communities, and international partners to ensure that every youth in Tanzania has access to the tools, environment, and encouragement needed to succeed.

What Your Support Helps Us Do
Across Tanzania, newly built community secondary schools provide vital access to education for thousands of students. However, many of these schools face severe resource constraints, including shortages in:
Essential Learning Resources: Textbooks, exercise books, stationery, and science equipment.
School Infrastructure: Dedicated library buildings, dining halls, staff rooms, and modern kitchens.
Basic Utilities & Sanitation: Reliable access to clean water and electricity.
Extracurricular Development: Sports grounds, games facilities, and physical education equipment.
COSES exists to tackle these grassroots challenges directly, transforming under-resourced schools into places of academic excellence and athletic engagement.
Building Bridges of Hope for Tanzania’s Students.
When we launched COSES, it was born out of a simple yet profound vision: to build international bridges of solidarity for students in our community secondary schools. As a secondary school teacher here in Tanzania, I see the everyday struggles our young people face due to severe resource shortages, but I also see their immense potential and determination.
My journey to Germany was a pivotal moment in our story. Traveling across the country to speak with churches, schools, universities, NGOs, and media outlets, I was deeply moved by the warmth and sympathy we received. Being able to share our message on national television and meet with compassionate leaders showed me that our cause resonates globally.
The support from that visit was immediate and heartening. Generous friends contributed tangible, life-changing supplies for our students—including textbooks, exercise books, pencils, school bags, and sports equipment like footballs and netballs. Seeing the smiles on our students' faces when we distributed these items back home in Tanzania confirmed that every effort counts.
Today, as we continue our conversations with partners like Citizen Partnership One World for long-term funding and strategic support, my faith in our collective mission remains stronger than ever. Together with our local communities and global friends, we can provide every child in Tanzania with the quality education they deserve.

What People Think
Receiving textbooks, exercise books, and sports equipment directly in our classroom gave us hope. Knowing that people near and far believe in our education makes us study harder every single day.

From a Secondary School Student
in TanzaniaMany of our schools were built by the community but lacked basic learning materials, libraries, and facilities. COSES understands our exact needs because they are led by teachers who walk in our shoes.
